Tainted Flower 91 x 61 centimeters 300 resolution Digital Manipulation August 2014 My intentions for my know thyself was to depict my feelings towards my siblings who I view as one of the most important people in my life. I was inspired by the Renaissance movement because during that time they painted many biblical scenes that depicted God and that is what I wanted to replicate. My siblings have been the main reason for my existence because I want to protect them and their dreams. I want them to rely on me because growing up I couldn't really rely on anybody but myself. |

The book Van Gogh; the complete paintings Taschen Specials inspired to recreate the portrait of Joseph Roulin because it depicted the various painting styles of Van Gogh. I wanted to express my complex emotions through color and light just as Van Gogh did in his works. |

The vase has red liquid represents blood. It is the blood of mother nature because the Earth is has been polluted by industrialization. |

That is why the sculpture is a black color to demonstrate tainted and evil hands that my ancestors had. The hand depicts how the Mayans would hold the heart of their sacrifice to to their Gods. |
