Lessly Padilla
My name is Lessly Padilla and I was an art student a Ronald Reagan High School and currently a freshman with a sophomore standing at Cardinal Stritch University. The reason I choose to study art is because I was curious about art since I never had an actual art class before. Instead I took music classes and learned the basics of the saxophone and guitar but I realized that I wasn't very good at playing any of them. So when I enrolled at Reagan I decided to join an art class and I have liked art ever since. I have found that I am more creative than I thought and I want to improve in the areas where I lack creativity. My body of work is a visual representation of my journey of self-discovery, which explores who I am as a person and what I value. The first artwork is Self-Portrait Van Gogh Style inspired by Van Gogh’s Portrait of Joseph Roulin, which just shows a physical representation of myself. There isn’t much detail in the face or person itself because I consider myself somewhat plain looking and that what people typically first see when they meet me. However the background is detailed and colorful in contrast with the person, showing how there's more to show than meets the eye. My triptych Nature In All of Us depicts my admiration of Mother Nature, the art museum and the Milwaukee public library. These three paintings show my interest for reading and volunteering since I volunteered at the forest home library, and my admiration of art. In The Person Standing Behind Me, shows one of my fears, having the sensation that a presence is lingering around following you; I'm a very superstitious person. |
